After the war, Laurel and Hardy, following various onslaughts, gain possession of the youngster and then bend their efforts to find the child's grandfather. One of their war buddies is a man named Smith, whose wife has left him and whose child is being cared for by two worthless people. She ponders and hesitates as she goes on and the sleepy-eyed Laurel eventually is presumed to find the story has the effect of causing him to slumber.Jacquie Lyn is a little English girl who is 3 years old and in spite of this tender age she has already appeared in several film features and is a diligent member of Hal Roach's "Our Gang" comedies.Laurel and Hardy in this rowdy narrative first appear as two idlers who are picked up and put into uniform by a recruiting sergeant. In a comedy such as this it comes as a pleasing relief, for the youngster evidently takes the telling of her little tale very seriously.

Enough scenery is destroyed here to please any manufacturer of stage sets and both these comics receive enough punishment to kill a dozen ordinary men.There is one really delightful sequence in this production and it happens when a child named Jacquie Lyn tells Stan Laurel a bedtime story. "Pack Up Your Troubles," with Laurel and Hardy, is the boisterous and sometimes funny picture at the Capitol.
